Track 10:  Law issues, Intellectual Property

Under the general theme „business services“ many legal issues arise. Focus points will be listed below without the intent to exclude other suggestions. Pertinent topics include intellectual property law, contract law and consumer protection, competition law, and data protection law. In addition, issues of information security and e-government may be covered. The emphasis should be on the legal framework and the need to modify or supplement existing legal solutions, but also on the interrelations between law and technology with the objective of cooperation and coordination early in the process of developing new technologies and business processes.

Possible topics:
  • Copyright and contract drafting relating to new forms of software development and use (Open Source, Utility Computing, Dynamic Services Computing on Demand, SaaS, SLA ASP)
  • Legal Issues of Mobile Commerce (contract conclusion, consumer protection, data protection, unfair competition law)
  • Legal Issues of E-learning and scientific communication (copyright, contract drafting, liability, Open Access, Creative Commons)
  • Legal Issues relating to Web 2.0 and Social Software
  • RFID, Ubiquitous Computing and legal framework (data protection, competition law, consumer protection)
  • IT Security, IT-Compliance and legal framework
  • Legal Issues of electronic markets in general and in specific areas, e.g., tourism, media business (exchange platforms and copyright, internet auctions, B2B and contract law, consumer protection, data protection, competition law, patenting of business processes)
  • Legal Issues of E-Government (tenders, electronic identity, electronic signatures, Reuse of public information, security aspects)
