Track 25: Production Planning and Control, Industry
Production planning and control (PPC) is one of the core tasks in industry. Business informatics has contributed substantially to the design of PPC systems by developing and elaborating the notion of integrated information systems. While classical paradigms like MRP-I have found their way into application packages and practical applications, PPC today faces various new challenges and opportunities: on the one hand, globalization creates the need for agile, customer-oriented and accurate PPC-systems for an international environment; on the other hand, RFID and SOA offer new technological options for next-generation IT-systems for production planning and control. The aim of this track is to cover these new developments, both from a technology-push and from a production management application-pull point of view. Expected are theoretical contributions as well as case studies, best-practice papers, and surveys.
Possible topics:
- PPC reference models and the selection of PPC systems
- PPC in new industrial centers (e.g., Eastern Europe, China, India) and multinational enterprises
- Management education in the PPC area
- APS systems, optimization, and AI- methods and PPC
- Nonstandard PPC systems (e.g., recycling, industry specific requirements, and solutions)
- RFID and PPC
- Service oriented architecture and PPC
- New challenges caused by revenue management, supply chain management, E-Business etc.
- PPC and risk/disaster management
- Integration of PPC with SCM / MES
- PPC and the virtual factory
