Track 5:  Business process management

The process-oriented paradigm is increasingly moving from a functional towards a service-based paradigm. It is characterised by higher level of flexibility, coordination and social interaction.

Recent concepts like Web 2.0, recommender-marketing or bundling of goods and services and their virtualisation require further development of process-oriented methods and tools. In this context, business models act as the enablers for an increased alignment between strategy and IT-based implementation.

The intention of this track is to discuss theoretical, conceptual-analytical and empirical research covering economical, organisational and IT aspects. Hence we encourage papers that consider the multidisciplinary character of this topic.Besides papers dealing with the narrower topics of this track, we appreciate submissions related to the thematic orientation of the entire conference.

Possible topics:
  • Impact of service-oriented concepts on organisational structures and processes
  • Tools and practices of service-oriented business process management
  • Service-enabled process innovation
  • Service-based inter-organisational and intra-organisational business processes
  • Measurement of process performance in service-oriented environments
  • Reference process models for business services
  • Automation of processes by services
