Track 9: Science of services / Philosophy of Science
IS research in Germany focuses typically on the definition of ideas, practices, technical capabilities, or products through which the analysis, design, implementation, management, and use of IS can be effectively and efficiently accomplished. This focus is occasionally shifted towards research on the theoretical foundations of IS. The aim of this track of the WI 2009 is to incorporate these shifts in the context of business services.
Possible topics:
- Business services: theories and hypotheses
- Research methods: application or evaluation regarding business services
- Quality criteria for IS research
- Life cycles for IS research results
- Studies on IS research results seen from aspects like ”relevance vs. rigour” or „Why the old world cannot publish? Overcoming challenges in publishing high-impact IS research (Lyytinen et al. (2007))”
- History of and innovations in (business) service science
- Business service management based on experience: design and theoretical foundation
